DC fans are looking forward to seeing how Aquaman 2 plays out and what it means for the fate of the larger DCEU. Amid the chaotic condition of the DCEU and the uncertainty about whether Momoa will continue playing the part in the future, you might be wondering if it’s worth staying in your seats till the credits roll out.
Note: The following information contains spoilers for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Does Aquaman 2 Have A Post-Credits Scene?
Yes! Aquaman 2 has one post-credits scene, similar to the first movie in the series. This end-credit scene arrives after the stylized credits have ended, making it essentially a mid-credits scene.
Spoiler warning!
The end credits scene of Aquaman 2 is a continuation of an earlier scene in the movie. In this scene, we see Patrick Wilson’s Ocean Master/Orm sitting at a diner, with a waitress bringing him his first-ever cheeseburger.
This time around, we see a cockroach scurrying across his table, which he catches with his fingers, puts in his burger, and proceeds to eat the ‘custom-built’ cheeseburger. The scene ends with Orm eating the cheeseburger with the cockroach in it and expressing his delight.
This humorous scene is a callback to another scene in the movie, where Aquaman and Orm are bonding as brothers, traveling through deep jungles. In a true elder brother fashion, Aquaman is encouraging his younger stepbrother (Orm) to explore many things the ‘surface world’ has to offer, including its many delicacies.
To trick his brother, Aquaman catches and offers Orm a cockroach, saying this is a delicacy that many people on the surface world enjoy. After reluctantly trying it, it turns out mean baddie Orm loves the taste. The Aquaman 2 post-credits scene offers a heartfelt homage to the once-estranged but now strengthening bond of these Atlantean brothers.
However, I was disappointed that the scene did not offer any hints as to where the Aquaman franchise is headed. The DCEU has been cursed since the beginning, trying to play catchup with the MCU but miserably failing to establish any kind of order. Only time will tell whether Momoa gets to lift the Aquaman trident in the future DC movies.
