The developer Capcom has finally announced the release date for Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition. The release date confirms rumors that had surfaced a month ago, based on a now disappeared Metacritic listing.
Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will be released on February 9, 2024. The developer has announced the release date via the official Resident Evil X page. This new edition will include the base game, as well as the Separate Ways DLC. Apart from these two, the gold edition is also set to include various bonus items that were previously included in Resident Evil 4 Deluxe Edition.
Apart from the remake of Resident Evil 4, which was released in 2023, this upcoming Gold Edition doesn’t include any new content. Sure, this edition includes all the DLCs that were released after the remake was launched. However, fans of the series are looking for fresh content. Many of them are hoping to get new playable content, or at least new costumes or weapons.
Releasing Gold Editions for Resident Evil games has been a tradition for Capcom. Previously, the developer had released Gold Editions for Resident Evil 7 as well as Resident Evil Village. These editions usually bring all the released content (including the post-launch content) on a single disc with dowload code for post-launch DLCs.
While these gold editions do not make much sense for avid series fans, who probably get their hands on new updates and DLCs as soon as they release, it can be a great starting point for someone who hasn’t played the game at all.
