Sonic the Hedgehog is back with Sega’s announcement of Sonic Superstars in the Summer Game Fest. Combining modern and classic elements, this cooperative platformer promises an adventure with Sonic and his iconic friends, Tails, Amy Rose, and Knuckles.
What to expect from Sonic Superstars?
The game is a 2.5D platformer where you will engage in boss battles, have collectibles to discover, and take part in challenging platforming sections throughout the game. Dr. Eggman, Sonic’s perennial nemesis, returns to cause chaos once again, accompanied by another familiar antagonist, Fang the Sniper.
One of the standout features of Sonic Superstars is the introduction of Emerald Powers. As you collect Chaos Emeralds, they will unlock unique abilities for your characters. These include the ability to create clones and swim up waterfalls, adding a fresh twist to the gameplay experience.
Additionally, Sonic Superstars introduces cooperative gameplay, allowing up to four players to embark on the adventure together. With Sonic, Amy, Tails, and Knuckles as playable characters, you can have your friends join forces to navigate the levels together.
Sega has also teased the appearance of a new character created by Naoto Ohshima, the designer responsible for the original look of both Sonic and Dr. Eggman.
