Super Mario Bros. Wonder has grabbed the Best Family Game trophy at The Game Awards 2023.
The other titles nominated in this category were Party Animals, Disney Illusion Island, Pikmin 4, and Sonic Superstars. The Best Family award was the first category to be announced at the TGA 2023, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder took it away.
President of Nintendo America, Doug Bowser graced the stage to accept the trophy on behalf of the team. While thanking the TGA team, he said,
“The team really tried to develop a game that allowed people to work together, to play together, whether it was friends or it was family.”
Bowser commented that nothing brings a family together more than “trying to rescue a kingdom from the evil likes of Bowser”. User and critic reviews attest that, as the game has popularly catered to all ages and turned out to be one of the best Nintendo Switch games of 2023.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder was released on October 20 this year and released to universal acclaim. Both critics and players accepted the game with open arms. The game currently has a Metacritic score of 92 with a 9.2 user score.
