The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is set to release on May 25, however, the entire playthrough for this title has been leaked just a day before the official release.
Someone posted an entire walkthrough of the upcoming game on YouTube, which was taken down several hours after it was uploaded. Gamers who have witnessed the walkthrough before it was taken down have varied reactions – with some feeling the game is dark and almost horror-like, while others feeling that it’s a tad cartoony. Some players have likened the upcoming title to Hellblade, others to Styx: Master of Shadows.
In general, most people who watched the walkthrough seemed thoroughly unimpressed by the title. A thread on Reddit is full of people bad mouthing the title, claiming that it’s repetitive, boring, and visually unappealing. Several gamers have cried for the remake of the original Lord of the Rings games that were released on PS2, rather than The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.
The new Gollum game is expected to take you on a journey through vast Middle Earth, combining elements of exploration, survival, stealth, and parkour. The game was initially announced in 2019, with an expected release window of 2021. It has since been delayed multiple times, with the official launch finally set for May 25, 2023.
During the gameplay, players will have to make decisions based on two of the protagonist’s personalities, gentle and kind Smeagol or dark and ring-influenced Gollum. The studios behind this title have stated that they wish to explore the never-seen before journey of this major Lord of the Rings character.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is set to release on Thursday, May 25, for PC, PS4 & PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The studio has also announced that they will be releasing a Nintendo Switch version of the game during this year.
