Fitzroy’s Gorge is full of optional bosses but none more tenacious than the once gallant knight, Crimson Rector Percival. This Lords of the Fallen boss can be difficult to deal with as is true with most encounters in the Gorge. While on the surface it may seem like Rector Percival is a greatsword-wielding menace, there is more to his arsenal than his initial impressions suggest.
This boss is adept at the arcane arts and is capable of conjuring up specters and Radiant spells, making him a tricky foe in the field of battle. There are, however, some effective ways to get around Crimson Rector Percival’s attacks which we will be unraveling in this guide.

Crimson Rector Percival Boss Attacks
This boss in Lords of the Fallen has a fairly small arsenal of attacks that revolve around melee strikes and Radiant spells. While the melee part is somewhat easy to deal with, the radiant part of his arsenal can prove troublesome at times. Fortunately enough, there are hacks deliberately put in the arena to deal with this problem as well.
Here’s what you can expect from the Crimson Rector Percival Boss Fight.
Attack | Description | Defense |
Sword Smite Slash | A powerful swing of the Sword which deals radiant damage. | Dodge, block, or parry. |
Sword Smite Thrust | A powerful Thrust of the Sword which deals Radiant damage. | Dodge, block, or parry. |
Thrust Slash combo | A combo move consisting of at least two swings of the sword and a thrust not necessarily in that order. Can deal Radiant damage if it is a charged attack. | Dodge the initial strikes and then block or parry. |
Summon Illusion | Crimson Percival summons an illusion of himself which charges and does any of his regular attacks. | Strike the Illusion as soon as it appears. Ensure that you are facing it immediately as it is summoned. |
Heal | He casts a Radiant heal spell that gradually fills his health bar. This attack is unleashed after the Crimson Percival’s health goes below 50%. | Use ranged attacks preferably using poison salts. |
How To Defeat Crimson Rector Percival Boss In Lords Of The Fallen?
This boss’ attacks can be tricky to read early in combat as they are not telegraphed, but you can still block them with ease. In fact, blocking and dodging should constitute your primary strategy when it comes to defeating the Crimson Rector Percival.
Parrying is an option that will allow you to riposte and bring down his health some more, but you’ll not have much time due to his second course of attack: the Summon Illusion spell.
Let The Crimson Rector’s Smite Run Out

Percival begins his melee onslaught by charging his sword which can now do Radiant Smite damage. This is, however, a temporary attack, as the Smite charge runs out over a period of time. By dodging the charged Smite strikes, you can stay away from its harmful Smite effect and launch your own melee attacks when the effect runs out. Be warned that the Smite is charged up again as the battle ensues.
In the event that you do get struck by the Radiant attacks and have the Smite effect on yourself, you can use the Umbral Parasites in the arena to get rid of it.

Focus On Ranged Attacks When He Is Healing
Crimson Rector Percival summons an illusion immediately after his combo attacks, although this only lasts till his health is above 50%. After going below 50% this boss puts his casting ability to address a more immediate concern – healing. This provides a splendid opening to move away as much as possible from the Crimson Rector Percival and switch to a ranged attack strategy.
Poison Salts are most effective against this Lords of the Fallen boss when he is healing. Melee attacks will not do much damage as Crimson Rector has now galvanized his defenses. Tossing the salts ensures that his healing efforts turn futile. Once Percival realizes this, he will change his attack strategy. However, by then, you would have done enough damage to go in for the final strike.
The Final Strike
Crimson Rector Percival spends a fair amount of time trying to heal himself which can be exploited to bring his health down to killing him within a couple of strikes. After he switches back to melee, he charges again. You can simply dodge his attacks as before and land a few heavy strikes. By maintaining this strategy, you will have judged this sinner in no time.
