The Sea Spider is among the more tenacious bosses in Armored Core 6. Despite looking like a derelict piece of machinery, this boss can take your Armored Core apart with ease. While the arachnid nemesis is fairly slow, it is constantly on the move and has a wide range of movement options which make it a difficult boss to deal with. Furthermore, the Sea Spider has a fairly stacked health bar which can take quite a while to deplete through.
So, hitting fast and hitting hard is the order of the day when dealing with the Sea Spider boss in Armored Core 6, and here are a few tips to help you accomplish just that.
Armored Core 6 Sea Spider boss guide: Prepare your Armored Core
Since this can be a lengthy fight with greater damage potential it is prudent to cover your Armored Core in some heavy armor. Staying airborne is not a priority in this fight, at least not till the end. So, you can risk being as heavy as possible. In fact, it is best to have the highest upgrades available to you at this point in your Armored core. You also need to pack quite a bit of firepower.
While you can choose the best Laser turret or minigun available to you at this point, as always the pulse blade is the best way to go to deal greater damage. Since the Sea Spider is slow but erratic in movement, you also need something to hold it in place. To this end, the Songbirds Grenade Cannons are quite effective. The effect of the Songbirds can be further boosted with the RF 024 Turner.
Armored Core 6 Sea Spider boss guide: Combat strategy
The Sea Spider likes to attack with short-timed barrages which deal a great deal of damage and is pretty difficult to dodge. A particularly menacing attack is using its many legs to crush your mech. This can be especially devastating if you are close proximity to the Sea Spider. It is best to time your attacks carefully especially when using the pulse blade. It has several other barrage fire attacks as well that can cause a lot of damage and will be used even when stationary.
Use the staggering effect with the Songbirds as often as possible to limit its movement and related attacks. This will allow you to strike in with the pulse blade. There is always a warning glow on its legs when it is about to attack. You can watch for it and proceed toward the Sea Spider to limit the area of damage and hopefully gain an advantage for some heavy blows.
Once the Sea Spider’s health has gone below 70% it switches to some airborne maneuvers. This is where it is most dangerous as it can unleash even more attacks including a rotating laser strike with all its legs firing at the same time. At this point, its legs are all spread out and its movement becomes much more linear. So, you can get a better shot at it as long as you are out of its firing range.
Deal as much damage as possible with your turrets and gatling guns to bring the giant metal Spider’s health down quickly. Staying airborne during this attack will help you target specific parts to deal greater damage and hopefully destroy the arachnid menace.
