Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remastered features 19 files scattered worldwide, each of which helps players deepen their understanding of the world and lore. If you’re trying to collect all the trophies or just interested in what the story has to offer, this guide will help you locate all 19 files on your journey through feudal Japan!
#1 Play Instructions
Once you obtain the ability to absorb souls, this file is given to you automatically.
#2 Giving Items
Automatically received after the cutscene of Magoichi and Ekei fighting outside the bar.
#3 Demon Wall Scroll
Once you enter the Gold Mine, paths will lead left and right. Go left and loot the box on the ground as you enter, towards the left. You will get the Demon Wall Scroll.
#4 The Five Oni Orbs
Instead of taking the left, take the right path in the Gold Mine. Head straight through the tunnels, and at a point, you’ll be forced to fight some lizardmen. Defeat them, and head straight to the right. Keep moving forward until you enter a room with a chest containing The Five Oni Orbs.
#5 The Demon’s History
The 5th file is in Gifu Castle. After the checkpoint, go beside the stairs leading up, into the door below and you’ll spot a book on the shelf.
#6 Jujudormah’s Diary
You’ll get access to the cave after placing 3 Nobunaga Stones. Keep moving inside the cave and defeat the enemies. Kill the mob with a tentacle in front of the doorway, and you can claim the 6th file next to the save point.
#7 On Onigashima
Once you defeat Jujudormah, go through the cave into the next room. The doors will close on you, the room will start filling with gas, and you’ll be forced to escape the cave. After a cutscene, you’ll be washed ashore in a cave with the 7th file in a box next to the save point.
#8 Elevator Instructions
When playing as Oyu, once you put the keyplate into the dragon shrine, the doors to the left and right will open. Take the door to the left, near the save point, and the file will be inside the new area in a small semi-circle gap to the left.
#9 The Oni’s Super Weapon
Go back to the shrine, and take the door on the right. Go through this door, and defeat the enemies to get into another room. In the new room, to the left of the door, there is a shelf containing the 9th file.
#10 Guildenstern’s Book
Head down the Elevator in the Oni Castle. Fight the robot-like enemy and head up the ladder in the same room. Follow the ledges to get into another area, and drop down. Go through the door in front of you and you’ll find Guildenstern’s Book.
#11 Tokichiro’s Memo #1
Use the Golden Key to stop the floating crates. Use the Circle Key to get inside the room, and you’ll find the 11th file in the right corner of the room.
#12 Tokichiro’s Diary
On top of Gifu Castle, on the rooftop with the bell, drop down the ladder and go towards the bottom of the tower using the ramps, to the save point. Head outside, and you’ll find a Thunder Seal to your right. You can use your Buraitou to destroy it and go through the door. You’ll discover Tokichiro’s Diary on the floor.
#13 Humans as Food
Go through the door in the main courtyard of Gifu Castle. Fight the Pole Smashing Genma, use your Cherry Blossom Key on the door to your right and head inside. You can find the 13th file in a platform to your left.
#14 Tokichiro’s Memo #2
There are 2 ways you can obtain this file. Once you use the Crescent Key in Gifu Castle, go through the door blocked by the Ice Seal by breaking it using Hyoujin-Yari. Head behind the statue and you’ll see a hole that teleports you to a cave. Go through the cave, and this will prompt a cutscene involving Magoichi. You’ll get the file once the cutscene is over, if he’s your main ally. If he’s not your main ally, you can find him near the save point, a few rooms ahead.
#15 Hunting Schedule
You’ll reach a boathouse after passing around the waterfall in Gifu Castle. Inside this boathouse, you can find the file in a corner, and a well for magic replenishment next to the save point.
#16 The Golden Evil Statue + File #17 The Book of Fortinbras
Use the stairs in the boathouse to head down. Use the boat and you’ll reach an area with a door guarded by a tentacle demon. Defeat it and head inside. Defeat the 2 Pole Genma inside the room, and you can find the 16th and 17th file on the other side of the room.
#18 Gogandantess’s Barrier
When you reach a cutscene with Oyu, in the Sacred Oni Place, you will find out who she really is. Through the door on the left, at the far end of the room, you can claim the 18th file.
#19 Tokichiro’s Memo #3
Once you’re in the flying machine, you’ll regain control of Jubei. Inside the building, next to a save point, head forward and you’ll find the file on the ground around the corner. Finding this file will unlock the trophy Walking Library!
