You’ll spend a lot of time with your main characters in Dragon’s Dogma 2, while shuffling out other pawns you meet along the way. Your initial choices for character design might no longer appeal to you, 20 or 30 hours into the game, but there’s good news: you can make changes after the fact. You just need to be ready to pay the price and, in some cases, make use of some dye.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 – Where to Find Dye and How to Use It
As you might expect, dye allows you to make color-based changes to your character. There are five colors available: red, green, blue, yellow, and purple. To find dye in Dragon’s Dogma 2, check Alexia’s shop in Bakbattahl.
You can easily play the game for literally dozens of hours before you ever come to Bakbattahl, which is the capital city of the Battahl region to the southwest of Vernworth. There are multiple ways to enter in and near Checkpoint Rest Town. The easiest way to gain permanent entry is to complete the Nation of the Lambent Flame story campaign, which allows you to acquire the Beastren Border Entry Permit. Then you can enter while wearing a Beastren Mask acquired from Ibrahim’s Scrap Store for 8700 G.

When you arrive in Battahl by way of the gate, simply follow the main road as it leads you on a long journey south and then east. You’ll reach the western entrance to Bakbattahl. Ahead of that entrance, a path takes off to the north, where you find The Rockmouse’s Burrow. If you have been to the city as part of a quest, you have likely already been to that establishment. Head through its back room and out the back door to reach a little ravine where you can meet Alexia. She sells the dyes. Refer to the screenshot map above for an idea of the shop’s precise location.
You will have the option to purchase the various types of dye. Each one carries a cost of 500 RC, which is a currency you may find even more precious than gold. You acquire it when your pawn goes off on adventures with other players, or when you investigate various riftstones for the first time. Some creatures of the night drop it very rarely, and it also shows up elsewhere in limited circumstances. I had spent dozens of hours with the game by the time I was ready to purchase dyes. Even so, I only had a few thousand RC saved up. That was despite not spending it on more than very occasional pawn recruitment. It is a valuable resource.
Once you purchase the dyes, use them to customize your character’s appearance. Just look for a shop indicated on the map by an icon of scissors. For instance, there is Mettefore’s Cosmetics in Bakbattahl. You can spend 10000 G at any shop to modify hairstyle, makeup, or markings, or 25000 G to make adjustments in all three categories to either your character or your main pawn. Your purchase of the dyes gives you additional options you wouldn’t otherwise have. Blue hair, anyone?
