In Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ll find and use a variety of rare materials to turn your most powerful weapons into something even better. One of the rarest components you can hope to find is the Cursed Dullahan Bone.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 – Where to Get a Cursed Dullahan Bone
The Cursed Dullahan Bone allows you to upgrade some of the most useful gear in the game. However, you’ll have to defeat a fearsome foe in order to acquire it. The bone’s name gives you a big clue as to which one. To get a Cursed Dullahan Bone, you must battle the powerful Dullahan monster.
Unfortunately, Dullahan is very shy about making an appearance. I roamed the land, looking for him. He only appears at night, and in foggy environments. But most importantly, he seems to only appear as part of the Till Death Do Us Part quest. Then, you can find him in certain locations thereafter. If you haven’t completed that quest, you likely won’t encounter Dullahan at all.

To attempt Till Death Do Us Part, you first need to visit the Nameless Village and complete a quest of that name. It’s one of the quests that originates from Brant. After you complete it, you need to meet a character named Oswald. He hangs around by the fountain, near the entrance to the Noble Quarter in Vernworth. After talking to him, you’re ready to meet Margit.
You’ll find Margit not far from the Watchhead’s Home, which is also in the Noble District. She is Gregor’s wife, and not pleased when you share the news about the scheme to take her husband’s life. Agree to help her. You’ll initiate the timed quest. Track the quest to activate a point on your map, which indicates a place deep within the Misty Marshes area to the northwest. The clock is ticking, so head there immediately. If you have a pawn with the Guide ability, let them use it. However, it’s not hard to find the region.
When you reach the marshes, follow the torches along the path. You just need to travel from one torch to the next, which leads you eventually to the campsite at the Abandoned Home area. Down a hill from there, you’ll find Illdoers’ Resting Place. See the map of its location in the below screenshot. As you arrive, some soldiers are battling a monster: the Dullahan.
The Dullahan is a powerful adversary. He seems to fall most quickly to physical attacks. I went at him while practicing the Warfarer vocation. My weapons and skills were those of a thief. Grappling doesn’t seem to do much good, but a flurry of strikes is helpful. Hopefully, you have a mage in your party who can keep everyone’s health in good shape. The soldiers led by Gregor also participate in the battle. They even do some good.
Once you defeat Dullahan, talk to Gregor. Then, you should return to Vernworth and meet the man and his wife, back in the Nobles Quarter. This meeting completes the quest, earning you 2800 XP, 5000 G, and the Steeled Virtue weapon.
The real prize is the fact that now you can now run into Dullahan along some roads at night. He seems to occupy areas to the along the eastern edge of Vernworth. For instance, you’ll now start finding him around the Ruined Settlement campsite. He also haunts various areas along the main road near the Riverside Ruins, which are positioned right along the river (see the above screenshot for their place on the map).
If you need to farm the Cursed Dullahan Bone, the best approach is to head to the Riverside Ruins. Rest at the campsite to bring on the night. Then, travel along the road toward Melve. There are two or three places along that route where you might encounter a Dullahan. As you battle, you have a chance of hacking away at his body and making him drop a Cursed Dullahan Bone, or even more. You may also find another one when you loot his corpse. I once got four bones from a single battle.
