Starfield, the massive space exploration game by Bethesda, is weeks away from release, and it’s all anyone seems to be talking about. Even with so much information revealed, fans simply can’t seem to be getting enough and are reaching out to whatever sources they can connect to, demanding even more details.
One of such fan-pestered sources is the Lead Designer of Starfield, Emil Pagliarulo. Fans are convinced that Emil holds access to powerful, undisclosed information that no one in Bethesda’s marketing or PR department will. Finally fed up with the countless DMs and emails, Emil has spoken up about his inability to shed light on any of Starfield’s unpublished or unannounced content.
Emil addressed his followers on Twitter, disclosing a key piece of information about Bethesda’s key PR rule for Starfield. According to Emil,
“No one other than Todd Howard himself is authorized to talk publicly about unreleased game info.”
🧵(1/2) I know this isn't what any @StarfieldGame fan wants to hear from me, but I feel like I need to make this clear: no one other than Todd Howard himself is authorized to talk publicly about unreleased game info. That's the job of of our PR/marketing/community folks.

Lead Designer of Starfield refuses to reveal anything about the game
This isn’t too surprising. Todd Howard has become synonymous with Starfield ever since the first announcement came to us in 2018. In subsequent period of six years, Howard has been the face of the upcoming game’s marketing campaign.
(2/3) You have tons of questions. I get it. And my vague posting about the game doesn't help. I am SO humbled by your anticipation of Starfield. Seriously. It's mind boggling to me. So it really does pain me to say that I simply CAN'T answer 99% of your questions.

Many fans have supported and, quite interestingly, applauded Emil’s statement. While many say that they understand the burden he must be feeling, others steadfastly believe this is another marketing stunt/initiative (which it absolutely might be). Some have stated in excitement that it won’t be long before they find these answers by themselves. And there is a simple answer for that provided by Emil, who wrote:
“It really does pain me to say that I simply CAN’T answer 99% of your questions.”
It simply means that Bethesda has much, much, much more in store than what they have already revealed.
(3/3) I can't share my opinions on game content; I can't talk about performance; I can't discuss… well, most things. I signed an NDA. I'm a professional. I don't want to get fired. 😉 But your support is EVERYTHING to us. You fill my heart – every day. Best. Fans. EVER.

Emil has been regularly posting, just the photos of himself, going through Starfield playthroughs and playtesting the game. Claiming that he doesn’t “want to get fired” for divulging any undisclosed information, he has refused to reveal any new detail about the game. This brings us to a very interesting point. With so much information already revealed, what exactly are these great big secrets that Bethesda wants to keep a heavy lid on?
We already know so much about Starfield
Fans, as usual, are inquiring about everything. Some want to know more about the dogfights in space, while others are interested in the extent of Starfield ship customization options available in the game. Many want to know what level of interactive relationships one can build with Starfield companions, while others are interested in how painstakingly they can explore the massive Starfield map.
Apart from standard questions that can be answered in the first few hours of getting their hands on the Starfield, Bethesda surely has some deep and dark secrets hidden behind distant planets in obscure solar systems. With a game that promises to feature the most expansive map in the base version (not to mention several Starfield DLCs Bethesda is already working on) what could be some of the most iconic and genre-bending elements the developer is trying to keep hidden from the public?
To be honest, apart from the spectacles and amazements promised by Bethesda, the true success of the Starfield is the amount of hype and excitement they have been able to generate among gamers. Heck, gamers have even forgotten about GTA 6 for a while. It remains to be seen whether Starfield will match the skyrocketed hype it has created, and we only have a couple of months to go before we find the answer.
Starfield will be released on September 6 for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
