After 25 long years in the making and an expansive open world unlocked, Bethesda finally revealed the cinematic trailer for Starfield at the Xbox Showcase 2023. The game will be released on September 6, 2023.
The trailer reveals glimpses of the massive, stellar environments in the game and introduces gamers to Constellation, a Star Trek Federation-esque organization of cosmic explorers. We get a look at the combat systems filled with futuristic weapons, as well as a huge number of foes that include humans as well as alien creatures.
The narrative of the trailer makes us believe that Starfield will focus heavily on the exploration of vibrant plants and distant star systems. We see a number of different worlds, some post-apocalyptic, some filled with giant dinosaur-like creatures, and others gleaming with futuristic cities and skylines.
We also got a look at what could possibly be the counterpart to the Constellation. There are glimpses of a sinister underworld organization, marked by a red dragon sigil, menacingly talking to the protagonist about certain aspects of this universe that only they are privy to. We also get to see a battle robot that is supposed to be the player’s companion through their journey of the possibly infinite cosmos.
The trailer also gives some hints as to what the main storyline of Starfield might be. There’s a lot of emphasis on some celestial, mysterious artifacts which the narrator believes hold the answer to their problems. We also see the player finding some of them and fighting with their lives to get to them.
The developers wish to offer the glee of exploration in the golden era of space travel with NASA-punk-style gameplay. We can expect starship battles, futuristic machinery, and sophisticated companion robots programmed for players’ assistance.
