Can you romance multiple characters in Starfield? Yes, you can, but only up to a certain extent! Role-playing games simulate a variety of scenarios through their gameplay over the course of their walkthrough. Starfield is no exception.
You can choose one of the four Constellation members—Sarah, Barrett, Sam, and Andreja—as your romantic partner over the course of your playthrough.
How Romance Works In Starfield
Unlike games like Baldur’s Gate 3, where you can partake in advanced levels of romantic interactions from the get-go, Starfield takes a different approach. It might take you almost an entire playthrough to tie the knot and live happily ever after.
Stages of Companionship in Starfield
- Companion (Default)
- Friend
- Ally (Dating)
- Committed Partner (Married)
Affinity Meter
Each companion of yours has an affinity meter in Starfield. Your actions influence this meter, certain actions will be liked. The others will leave your companion frowning. You will know either way by the notification at the top right of your display.
Now, once you reach full affinity with a companion, it will unlock a companion mission to complete. Doing these is the key to unlocking romance options in Starfield. After finishing these personal backstory missions, you will be greeted with the option to commit to that partner and take things forward from there.
Can you flirt with multiple companions in Starfield?
Before you get to the commitment part, you are free to keep other fishes on your hook. You can flirt with one or multiple people freely and do their personal backstory missions. However, once you do commit to a partner by choosing the dialogue option starting with [Commitment], flirting with others will lead to turmoil in Starfield.
You could break up and then choose another companion without any problems. But polyamory isn’t a thing in Starfield yet (mods will likely add that possibility in the future).
