Can you Respec Skills in Starfield? Unfortunately, no, you cannot respec skills in Starfield. Unless you want to console commands or mods, of course.
Starfield offers one skill point for every level your character gains in the game. These skill points can be used to unlock different skills which are assorted into five branches: Physical, Social, Combat, Science, and Tech.
But deciding between which skills to unlock can become a worrisome task with so many skills to unlock and so few skill points early on. If you’re also struggling with the Starfield skill tree, here’s everything you need to know about resetting skills in Starfield.
Can You Respec Skills in Starfield?

Skill points cannot be reset after you have unlocked your desired skill in the game. This means you really have to really think about which specific skill you want to spend those early hard-earned skill points on. For example, the 4th point to increase your rifle damage might not be as crucial as taking a value point to unlock Boostpack usage.
However, since there is no max level cap, you can work toward unlocking all of the skills gradually in your playthrough. Also, Starfield New Game Plus retains your skill tree. So, you can really be a master of every perk with subsequent ng+ playthroughs.
Starfield Respec Skills with Console Commands
Other than making new characters to respec skills in Starfield, you can use console commands to reset skill points or skill tree issues in the game. But fair warning, using console commands will mark your game’s save file as ‘modded’ and you will not be able to get any achievements from that point forward. You can circumvent this by getting the Baka Achievement Enabler mod that lets you gain achievements while using mods and console commands.
The console commands for adding and removing certain perks are:
- player.addperk (perkID) – For adding the perk
- player.removeperk (perkID) – For removing the perk
You can head over to this Perk ID list to get the code associated with your desired skill.
