Bluepoch’s Reverse 1999 is a new turn-based RPG where you are given the role of a time traveler cruising between various iconic time periods, solving problems, and fighting monstrous enemies. Similar to games like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, the game gives you the opportunity to summon characters with powers using the popular gacha system where the character you get depends solely upon the luck of the draw.

However, Reverse 1999 isn’t simply about summoning characters and fighting enemies. Each chapter of the game is filled with various puzzles, stories, and many more key elements. There is also a lot to unpack in the battle system of the game, especially it being a turn-based gameplay.

From Reverse 1999’s story to its anime art characters to the complicated battle system, here are the key points of the game.

Reverse 1999 Storyline

Reverse 1999 recounts the last day of the year 1999 when a sudden “storm” (almost like a black hole) appeared and reversed the whole timeline of the Earth. Only one person (you) was immune to the whole timeline dissipation and given the role of a timekeeper who can travel between these faded timelines to rescue Arcanists and help them avoid getting absorbed into the storm.

Reverse 1999 Characters

Although there are a total of 63 currently available characters in Reverse 1999, you will not be able to summon them immediately as you start playing. Some characters have special banners for summoning or some characters might be locked till you reach a certain chapter in the game. Each character or Arcanist as the game likes to call them, has some characteristics attached making them unique. These special characteristics are:

• Afflatus – Afflatus describes the element each character is affiliated to. There are a total of 6 elements: Star, Spirit, Plant, Mineral, Beast, and Intellect. For example: Medicine Pocket, the healer character in Reverse 1999 belongs to the Beast element.
• Psychubes – Psychubes are special skills attached to your character’s ultimate in the game. Psychubes can offer healing, buffs, and debuffs to your entire party, according to the character it gets assigned to. • Mental DMG and Reality DMG – Your character can either do mental or reality damage in Reverse 1999. These are similar to magical and physical damage stats in other RPGs and more powerful Arcanists can deal greater damage to the enemies.
• Genesis DMG – Equivalent to true damage, Genesis damage ignores shields and other defensive moves and represents the all-out damage you or the enemy can receive in the game.
• Resonance – Resonance is basically your character upgrades and uses resources to level your Arcanists up each time. Higher-level arcanists can deal higher damage to enemies.

Summoning Arcanists

To summon Arcanists in Reverse 1999 and use them in battle, you need to go to the specific banner to roll and spend Unilogs. Arcanists are ranked by stars and range from 3-star to all the way up to 6-stars. The Beginner Banner guarantees one 6-star character (Lilya, Eternity, or Regulus) within the first 30 Unilogs spent in the game. But if you’re looking for something more specific, you can always try other banners as well.

Just make sure you have enough Unilogs for reroll before attempting. You can buy Unilogs from the in-game store, or collect and farm them every day if you’re more of a “Free To Play” player.

Reverse 1999 Currencies

Currency is a pretty important factor in any RPG; Reverse 1999 is no different. The game has a total of five different in-game currencies for you to collect. They are:

Crystal Drop	Can be converted into Unilogs to summon Arcanists.	Can only be purchased from the in-game store with real money.

Every currency aside from Crystal Drop can either be farmed in-game or purchased from the in-game store. Since Crystal Drop is considered to be a premium currency in Reverse 1999, it can only be bought from the store.

Reverse 1999 Battle System

The Battle System in Reverse 1999 is a turn-based card-like minigame, where your chibi anime Arcanist fights small versions of monsters with moves determined by what cards you pull. But, before we explain further, here are some terms you need to know about:

• Action Points (AP) – During the battling system, the number of moves for using or moving the cards is determined by Action Points. The AP is equal to the number of characters you have on the field every round. AP Generous characters usually do not have to spend many points to fulfill their roles, and AP Greedy characters use the points to do so.
• Tuning Skills – Special skills found on the bottom left of your screen during combat. Can be of two types: First Melody and Grand Orchestra.
• Moxie – Moxie can be gained by merging cards or moving them during battle. They are the two dots below your characters’ HP bar.
• Inheritance – Unlocks passives for your higher star characters which can be used in battle.

Afflatus Weaknesses

While your characters have assigned elementals, the enemies during the battle phase have their own elements as well. You need to build up your roster in such a way that the suggested Afflatus for the enemies is weak against your own characters’ elements.

Tips & Tricks For Reverse 1999 Battles

Make sure to have at least one main DPS, one support, and one healer for your battle. Your DPS should have an element that’s strong against the enemies.

During the battle phase, drag the card you would like to use against the enemies and unleash its power. Remember, Reverse 1999 always gives you the first turn in battle, so utilize it strategically.

If you hold the card and press it for a bit, it will show you the skills and ultimate it’s associated with. Make sure to use your ultimate when time. The cards will be executed from left to right, so arrange them in such a way that debuffs or buffs get added whenever necessary.

Use your one-target attack to take out the enemy with the most health and destroy your opponents successfully. Once you get a hold of the game’s battle mechanics and strategies, you will find yourself winning these fights in no time.
