Microsoft has sold more Series X|S consoles than the original Xbox in the UK, according to new consumer panel data by GFK.
The data was first spotted by Christopher Dring, Head of GamesIndustry.biz, who posted it on X.
As per data from UK chart compilers Chart-Track (via Install Base forum), the original Xbox had sold 2.14 million units in the UK by the end of 2005. A GamesIndusty.biz report from September puts Xbox Series X|S UK sales at 2 million units.
The absence of official sales figures from Microsoft makes it difficult to prove this new information, but GFK data has been accurate in the past. So, it can be assumed that the latest Xbox consoles have sold at least 2.20 million units.
The Xbox Series X|S have clocked 21 millions units worldwide since launch and 3.14 million units this year, according to September 2023 statistics. These numbers might see a significant boost during the ongoing holiday season.
