While most mini-boss fights are easy to understand, many players struggle to know how to beat Gruncah The Undying in The First Descendant. Gruncah is found during the main story mission in Echo Swamp, but there is a tricky way to defeat this boss, and the game does not explain this to you. It is a very particular mechanic that makes it hard for players to understand what they need to do naturally. Fortunately, I have all the answers for you.
How to Beat Gruncah The Undying in The First Descendant
To put Gruncah The Undying The out of its immune state in The First Descendant, you will need to destroy the metal balls in the order in which they spawn above its head. Keep your eye on Gruncah when the balls spawn to know which order they spawned in; destroying all balls will put him out of the immune state and make him easy to defeat.
This was tough for me initially, and I am sure other players are struggling with this as well. If I just randomly destroyed the balls in any given order, they kept respawning back again while keeping Grunch The Undying’s health bar completely immune to damage.
But in reality, this is sort of a reset mechanic in case a player did not catch the order they spawned in. So you destroy the balls and let them respawn so you can check the order this time when they spawn again.

There are a total of three balls that spawn, seemingly with just a second or two of a gap between their spawns. It is best to do this solo, as multiple Descendants will just shoot at the balls randomly and fail at doing the proper sequence.
Randoms also cannot be blamed, as every single time this same ball defense mechanic happens on an enemy in the game, it’s never the case where you need to destroy them in order. But somehow, the game just throws that in out of nowhere for Gruncah The Undying, specifically when you are trying to defeat them in The First Descendant.
