First deep dive on F1 2023 Gameplay
In the first of a series of deep dives, EA showcased the gameplay of F1 2023. Narrated by Sky Sports F1 presenter Natalie Pinkham, the video focuses on the headline features of the game. The video delves into the improved physics, which allows for more predictable and authentic vehicle behavior in terms of acceleration, braking, and rotation. The introduction of PrecisionDrive technology ensures finer control for players using gamepads, as demonstrated through a comparison between F1 2022 and F1 2023.
Moreover, the video highlights the return of red flags, a system that monitors track conditions to determine whether to deploy a safety car, virtual safety car, or red flag to halt the race. Crashes, cars retiring in unsafe positions, or extreme rain can trigger red flags, adding an extra layer of strategy to the gameplay. The video also treats us to a first look at the meticulously crafted Las Vegas circuit, built by Codemasters using thousands of reference photographs.
Braking Point returns
Fans of the popular story mode can rejoice as Braking Point makes a triumphant comeback in F1 2023. Improved physics and realism
Codemasters is leaving no stone unturned in their quest to enhance the realism and immersion of F1 2023. With improved physics, car handling becomes more predictable, allowing players to feel a deeper connection with their vehicles. Furthermore, the reintroduction of red flags adds a strategic element, while the divisive F1 Life gives way to the new F1 World hub, which seamlessly links multiple game modes.

While the graphics haven’t undergone major changes to accommodate last-gen platforms, Codemasters has focused on enhancing the handling in F1 2023. With improved physics, cars now offer a more predictable driving experience, allowing players to better control their vehicles. The new physics also enhances traction during braking, acceleration, and cornering. The developer has achieved a better balance between aerodynamics and tire grip, resulting in a more realistic feel with suggestions from real F1 teams. The throttle control has also been fine-tuned for a heightened sense of connection with the car.
Exciting multiplayer experience
Following the successful introduction of cross-play in F1 2022, the franchise is expected to continue this feature in F1 2023. Additionally, a new safety rating system will link online and offline play, promoting clean racing and improving the overall online racing experience. While the depth of this safety system is yet to be revealed, it aims to pair like-minded drivers for a more enjoyable multiplayer environment.
