Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a Soulslike RPG, which means as a player, you have quite a bit of variety when it comes to playing the game. The variety is offered in terms of weapon types that you can pick up during your journey through the massive world this game has to offer.
These weapon types are distinct in their gameplay, but the effort-to-reward ratio isn’t the same for all of them. Here’s a ranked list of all the weapon types in this game, including the names of the two best weapons from each category.
All weapon types ranked in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

There are a total of five weapon types in this game, which include Dual Blades, Axes, Spears, Longswords, and One-Handed Swords. Here’s how they can be ranked as of the release patch for the game:
Tier | Weapon Type |
---|---|
S | Dual Blades, Axes |
A | Spears, Longswords |
B | One-handed Swords |
Before moving to the description for each of these, it’s important to clarify what each tier represents. Based on the tier-list, S represents the best weapon types that can perform in any scenario, and against any boss, regardless of the items or skills you are using.
A-tier represents weapons that work well with a little investment and can even close the gap with S-tiers in the correct setup. B-tier represents the weapons that are weak and will require endgame armor, skills, and items to function optimally.
It’s now time to dive into the individual weapon types and discuss why they deserve their standings.
S-tier: Dual Blades

These are the two best-performing Dual Blades in the game so far:
- Twin Bandits
- Bitter Severance
Dual Blades are currently the strongest weapon types in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, simply because of their speed and ability to dish out massive damage through fast-flowing combos. This weapon type also comes with the highest number of Endurance points, which means more Stamina for the player.
Most of the bosses in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers are aggressive, which means the ability to animation cancel, dodge, and re-engage is crucial towards winning a fight. Dual Blades allow for perfect execution of all three, making this weapon type quite versatile.
Additionally, every Dual Blade allows you to Clash against Humanoid enemies, which significantly reduces the difficulty of quite a large number of fights. The only downside to Dual Blades is that you cannot Clash against beasts, forcing you to rely on combos.
However, the damage output of those combos is so high that you will be face-tanking enemies while shredding them easily. Clashing won’t always be necessary, nor will you be doing it as often.
S-tier: Axes

The two best-performing Axes in the game so far are:
- Empyrean Greataxe
- Li Jiao’s Fang
Axes are the slowest weapons in the entire game, but they make up for that speed with very high damage output. One single swing from an Axe is equivalent to five or six swings from a Dual Blade.
While playing this weapon, all you do is hit the enemy, move back, wait for them to execute their combos, and re-engage again. You can also mix and match the light and heavy attacks from an Axe to chain combos and stun lock enemies.
One of the biggest advantages of the Axe is that you can armor through enemy movies, without getting staggered. This can act to your disadvantage if your health is too low, but it can also help you finish off bosses in low health.
The Axe skill tree is also quite good, with some of the skills offering more Skyborn Might points.
A-tier: Spears

Here are the two best Spears in the game so far:
- Cloudpiercer
- Gunpowder Spear
If you’re a player who loves Quality builds with a good balance between Agility and Strength, Spears are the perfect choice for you. These weapons deal good damage, and allow you to maintain distance from the enemy due to their long range.
The most valuable aspect of Spears is that they can function both against bosses as well as a group of enemies. It’s also quite easy to generate Skyborn Might with Spears, which makes it easy to trigger your special skills.
The problem with Spears is that they are high-commitment weapons. They have long combos that also have large recovery windows, which will leave you vulnerable against enemies.
Additionally, you cannot power through enemy movies during the combs, so you will get staggered, which will hurt your damage output.
A-tier: Longswords

The two best Longswords in the game are as follows:
- Serpent Fang
- Lashing Whip
Longswords are also quite strong, similar to Spears, as they offer range and high damage. These weapons are also good for Quality Builds, and they are very easy to use.
You can deflect enemy attacks with Longswords, while also switching between poke or combo-based playstyle. The poke from Longswords is the strongest in the game, which means you don’t have to commit to combos if you want.
However, combos for Longswords have high commitment similar to Spears, which means you will leave yourself vulnerable if you aren’t careful. This is the only reason Longswords aren’t S-tiers, and if used properly, they can match Axes and Dual Blades in utility.
B-tier: One-handed Swords

The best One-handed Swords in the game are as follows:
- Watcher’s Gaze
- Zhanlu Sword
One-handed Swords are a bit of a problem in the game, as they aren’t bad, but their scaling puts them so far below in the tier list. These weapons are ideally suited for Magic builds, since their skill tree is filled with nodes that enhance Intelligence and Magic.
However, Magic in itself falls apart quite a bit in the endgame, where even your strongest spells aren’t enough to take down normal enemies. Compared to Magic builds, a Dual Blade or Longsword can shut down enemies in two or three hits.
As such, One-handed Swords simply lose their value in the long run, where other weapons will simply outperform them. If they get buffed in the future, then you can consider investing in them, but as of now, they simply aren’t worth it.
In fact, the One-handed Swords especially feel bad in the early game when you don’t have access to big damage magic, but your weapon damage is also too low. As such, bosses take too long to die, compared to other weapons.
