Scourge of the Past raid made its debut in Destiny 2 in 2018 and was playable till 2020, serving as the climax for the Season of the Forge. Players had to drive out the Fallen who breached the last city and destroy their enormous war machine. Majority of gamers were unhappy after the developer removed the raid from the game, possibly to get the game’s size under control in order to introduce more seasons and new lairs.
Gamers have assumed that Bungie might just be messing with them and trying to misdirect players from guessing what the actual update would bring. Some netizens believe that this might actually be the Crota’s End, while others think it could mean the return of Wrath of the Machine raid from Destiny.
Destiny 2 fans want Wrath of the Machine back
The gaming community is both overjoyed and divided after hearing this news. Majority of the players are hoping to get a reprise of the Wrath of the Machine instead. Flagship raid in the Rise of Iron expansion, Wrath of the Machine was playable in the first installment of the series from 2016. According to series’ hardcore fans, raids in Destiny were much more enjoyable than those in Destiny 2, this being the primary reason a majority of gaming community wanting it back.
Some insiders have a reason to believe that Bungie isn’t planning on reprising Scourge of the Past but an iconic raid from the first installment in mid-2023, which could easily mean Wrath of the Machine. This isn’t too promising, however, as bringing this raid back would mean transferring and remodeling a lot of assets from Destiny to Destiny 2, which might be a tricky and overwhelming task for the developer.
