The F1 series is back with the latest installment. As the staple game mode loved by racers, F1 23 career mode offers players the opportunity to experience the thrill of becoming the head of their favorite real-life Formula 1 team. In this article we delve into the details of F1 23’s career mode and everything you need to know.
F1 23 Career mode: Where to begin
The game offers two career types to choose from namely ‘Driver’ and ‘My Team’, both offer distinct challenges and experience to the player.
In Driver mode, players can play a solo career by signing contracts with Formula 1 teams and racing for them towards the final championship. The ‘My Team’ mode differs by offering plays a team to build and manage, heading to the championship together.
After choosing the career type, the game offers three options to choose from for ‘entry point’, namely, Newcomer, Midfield Challenger and Championship Contender. Each entry point has a different set of resources to offer to the player when the game begins.
The co-op experience in F1 23 career mode
One of the most exciting features of F1 23’s career mode is the introduction of a co-op experience, allowing two players to become teammates on the same team. While the ultimate goal is for one player to win the championship, there are still opportunities for cooperation and teamwork, particularly in securing the Constructors’ title for your chosen team and supporting each other to achieve podium finishes.
A new car upgrade system
Another significant change in F1 23’s career mode is the introduction of a new car upgrade system. Previously, players earned Research and Development (R&D) points through practice programs and used them to upgrade their cars. However, F1 23 takes a different approach. Codemasters, the game’s developer, confirmed that players can now unlock car upgrades, new liveries, race suits, and helmets by completing challenges within the career mode. This revamped system aims to provide a better sense of progression and reward for players.
New and returning tracks
F1 23’s calendar includes a mix of old favorites and new additions. The iconic circuits of Spa, Silverstone, and Monza make their return, offering players the opportunity to test their skills on these renowned tracks. Additionally, two new tracks will debut in F1 23: the Las Vegas street track and Qatar’s Lusail Circuit. Moreover, legacy circuits from previous F1 games, including Paul Ricard, Shanghai, and Portimão, will also be available at launch.
Return of story mode in F1 23
F1 23 career mode includes a new chapter in the captivating ‘Braking Point’ story mode introduced in F1 22. This mode offers a narrative with high-speed drama and intense rivalries, adding a layer of excitement and depth to player’s career journey. The mode lets players immerse themselves in on-track battles and off-track drama and rivalries.
