The kindhearted and wisecracking duo of Tim Goodman and Detective Pikachu is set to return to Nintendo Switch on October 6, 2023. A short trailer for the upcoming Detective Pikachu Returns was featured during the Nintendo Direct Showcase 2023. This sequel was being discussed for a long time, considering the success of its predecessor.
Detective Pikachu Returns takes players back to Ryme City
The trailer for Detective Pikachu Returns featured a peaceful Ryme City, bustling with both humans and Pokémon. We also got a glimpse of the coffee-loving lightning-tailed detective, who seems to have found himself entangled in a new mystery. The trailer featured glances at a story loosely based on some aspects of the Detective Pikachu movie, with a mayor announcing his plans for Human-Pokémon friendship. There was also a menacing Mewtwo appearance in the trailer.
The trailer for Detective Pikachu Returns does not shed much light on the game’s story, focusing rather on the wisecrack yellow detective who’s constantly commenting about the coffee. The detective duo will be tasked with uncovering some of the deepest secrets of Ryme City and apparently, they will have to do this with the help of both humans and Pokémon. Dozens of Pokémon are featured in the trailer; however, no gameplay footage was revealed.
Fans of the first game are extremely excited. The first game was released back in 2016 for Nintendo 3DS, so the fans are looking forward to a next-gen experience as the sequel will be released on Nintendo Switch.
Detective Pikachu Returns is slated to release on October 6.
