Pikmin 4 just launched, and the tiny plant/animal hybrids are as adorable as ever. The game also comes with some new breeds of Pikmin and features that improve upon the franchise’s unique gameplay style. Now, many of you PC gamers out there might have already heard about the ROM and probably even started playing it on your Yuzu and Ryujinx emulators.
While the vanilla game looks better than all its predecessors, it is worth exploring the mods that are already out to enhance your Pikmin 4 experience on PC emulators.
Pikmin 4 Mod 1.0.1 60 FPS
Nintendo despite taking a lot of pride in developing and porting games for their portable handheld console have been stingy with the FPS. This is true for Pikmin 4 as well which is locked at 30 FPS on the emulators as well. While this doesn’t affect gameplay all that much, the game is bound to look and play better if we had better FPS. Pikmin 4 mod is aimed at achieving exactly that.
The mod in question helps achieve 60 FPS by making some tweaks that’ll not compromise on the game’s graphics quality. The functions of this mod include:
- Disable Dynamic Resolution
- Increase Resolution
- Increase Shadow Resolution
- Increase AO resolution
- Increase drawing distance
- Disable FXAA
Keep in mind, players have reported that cutscenes are sped up with this pikmin 4 mod as a side effect.
Upcoming Pikmin 4 mod
While this is the only mod released so far for Pikmin 4 on PC Switch emulators, there is a lot of scope for more. There are many aspects of the main game that fans have not been too happy about. So, we can expect some gameplay mods as well soon enough. Furthermore, the game is built on Unreal Engine 4, which is much more mod-friendly, compared to Nintendo’s in-house game engine.
As a side note, if you are a modder working on Switch mods, be warned of the consequences. Gary Bowser from Team Xecuter is in a lot of trouble for messing with Nintendo and their portable console.
