Just like any other role-playing game, character progression is key in Fallout 4. Bethesda games pride themselves in their character creation and this game is no different. By picking the ideal starting stats, you can get a head start and ease yourself into the wasteland. Here are the best-starting stats to choose for your character in Fallout 4.
Best Starting Stats In Fallout 4
The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat system stands for all of the stats you start within the game. Each player gets 28 points to start. Here’s the division of points I recommend you allocate to each stat when the Vault-Tec Rep is at your door:
- Strength – 3
- Perception – 4
- Endurance – 1
- Charisma – 6
- Intelligence – 6
- Agility – 5
- Luck – 3
Let me explain why I have allocated these points in these categories.
Strength
Increases your carrying capacity and the effectiveness of melee weapons. Also, armor modification becomes easier with the Strength stat. If you want to prioritize using melee weapons, feel free to accommodate more by taking it off Agility. With 3 Strength, you also unlock the Armorer perk which can let you equip armor mods.
Perception
Perception betters the V.A.T.S. so if you are a heavy user of the feature then prioritize perception. In addition, with 4 Perception, you will be able to unlock the Locksmith perk which can let you pick advanced locks.
Endurance
With Endurance, you can survive for longer as it increases the amount of HP you gain every time you level up. The reason why I’m not prioritizing this stat currently is because you don’t need it much in the early going. Later on, Endurance is crucial for survival.
Charisma
Charisma is for people who want to talk their way out of everything. The effectiveness of any persuasion or intimidation technique will be influenced by your Charisma stats. With more Charisma, you can get NPCs to do your bidding, get items at the shop for cheap, and keep the settlers happy. Keep raising Charisma regularly so that you can get your followers on your side synergizing with your gameplay.
Intelligence
Every Intelligence stat increase boosts the XP gain by 3%. With it, you can level up faster and get more stat points so I recommend putting in a decent amount of points in this one. Moreover, it unlocks Gun Nut at level 3 which gives you access to gun mods. Aside from that, hacking also becomes easier the higher Intelligence.
Agility
If you want to move faster in any situation then Agility is key. Not only that, but it also increases Action Points, which are essential for anything you do including running, shooting, and more. Boost this stat if you want to go for a more stealthier approach. This stat synergizes quite well with Perception which improves V.A.T.S.
Luck
Finally, we have Luck. It increases your chance of being successful in almost everything you do. It can increase the loot you find, the chances of critical hit, critical damage, and much more. It is a good idea to slowly progress this stat as you go through the game.
