While exploring the intriguing world of Baldur’s Gate 3, you will come across an NPC named Abdirak with a rather distinctive trait. His ultimate devotion to the goddess of pain, Loviatar, makes for an interesting exchange of dialogue. Moreover, if you play your cards right when choosing among the dialogue options, you can get rewarded with the Loviatar’s Love buff.
Loviatar’s Love Buff provides a significant bonus to your character with a +2 on saving throws and attacks when the Health is below 30%. Therefore, to achieve this reward, you need to first locate Abdirak. So let us check out where to find Abdirak in Baldur’s Gate 3.
BG3 Abdirak Location
You can encounter Abdirak as early as the Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3. As you go southwest from the Emerald Grove, you will reach the location of the Goblin Camp. You will soon come across the Shattered Sanctum that serves as the base for the goblins. However, it also houses some creatures and humans among which is Abdirak himself.
You will come across Abdirak on the eastern side while entering the main chamber of the Goblin Camp. When witnessing him in front of you for the first time, you will see him praying to Loviatar, the goddess of pain. Now once he sees you, he will surely be surprised to see someone else’s presence other than the goblins and this is where the exchange of dialogue begins that you need to tackle carefully.
BG3 Abdirak Dialogue Options
Before starting the conversation with Abdirak, make sure to check out the book lying on the table. The book will help you trigger a conversation about ‘Advanced Techniques’ with Abdirak. Now that you have taken care of it, let us check out what is next:
- When you talk to Abdirak, he will offer to beat you and you need to accept his offer to take the conversation in the right direction for achieving the reward. However, make sure that you talk about the advanced technique and ask him to use the hand axe.
- After this, you need to step into the alcove with your armor off, to let him inflict pain on you.
- When he hits you with the hand axe, he will need a satisfactory response each time from you to complete the pain ritual.
- There will be a total of four responses that you can choose from and they are:
- Constitution – Try to hold back your cries.
- Performance – Yelp loudly and dramatically beg for mercy.
- Intimidation – Come on. A child can hit harder than that.
- Stop – that’s enough
Now to pass this test, you will have to pass three of his beatings either by checking the Performance or the Intimidation option. Additionally, checking the Intimidation option gives you an extra advantage. Once you pass this test, Abdirak is impressed by you and awards you with Loviatar’s Love Buff.
To use the Buff, you need to bring your Health below 30%. One of the options to do so is to let another player just hit you. However, you can do it the game-intended way and use the Ritual Dagger placed on the table right next to where Abdirak hit you. The Ritual Dagger as the name suggests, lets you reduce your health in small increments that will also let you activate Loviatar’s Love Buff.
