Once you unlock the Void Intercept Battles in The First Descendant, you get to face different Colossus bosses. The Devourer is considered by many to be the hardest boss to face. With a constant health-generating factor and massive toxic damage in his arsenal, fighting the Devourer alone will certainly lead to your rage quitting out of the game.
But like all the challenges The First Descendant throws at you, this is another one that you can overcome with the right strategy. In this guide, we’ll showcase how you can beat the Devourer, the best Descendants for the job, and exploit his elemental weaknesses. Let’s get started!
How to Defeat the Devourer in The First Descendant
To defeat the Devourer in The First Descendant, you want to make sure you’re exploiting his elemental weakness, Electricity. You also need to learn his attack patterns and equip the proper weapon modules to make the fight go easier.
Best Descendants Against Devourer
The Devourer is a DPS check boss with a massive health pool. That, combined with his constant health regeneration, means you need to bring your A-game if you want to take him down. Descendants that can do massive damage in short bursts are your best hopes for this fight.
- Bunny is a no-brainer for this fight because of her Electricity elemental affinity. Her Lightning Emission ability, in particular, is super effective against this boss and can leave him stunned for a duration, allowing you to rain down a barrage of bullets on it.
- Ajax, as a tank, is still one of the best Descendants for this fight. His Orbit Barrier ability is truly one of its kind in fending off the Devourer’s attacks.
- Yujin works great as a support Descendant against the Devourer because of her exceptional healing abilities. She can also rescue allies quickly if they fall to the boss.
- For the fourth slot, you can go with another DPS Descendant to add more damage to the mix. However, we recommend avoiding Freyna since her Toxic elemental affinity isn’t effective at all against this boss.
Best Weapon Modules
Your choice of weapon doesn’t really matter much in this fight. Just go with whichever weapon deals the highest DPS in your arsenal, and you should be fine. However, when you equip the modules, make sure you slot in Shock Damage mods to exploit the Devourer’s weakness and do increased damage.

The Devourer’s Weak Spots
Understanding the Weak Points of the Devourer will help you deal the most damage to the boss. Its weak spots are located in the kneecaps, its shoulders, the sensors on its head, and the diamond near the chest. Once the armor is destroyed in any of these points, it will be stunned for a moment, giving you a window to get more damage.
Best Strategy for The Devourer in The First Descendant
The Devourer has many different attacks that you’d want to know about before you take it on. One of the main ones is that it fires a barrage of toxic missiles at a random player. Simply dodging them isn’t enough, as they also leave behind toxic crystals that inflict DOT damage.
Ajax can stand his ground during this attack with his Orbit Barrier. Your goal should be to keep attacking its weak points to break the shield. Once that’s done, the boss will enter its immunity phase.

At this point, you’ll notice a group of Symbiote enemies in the arena that gives the Devourer a barrier. You need to kill these Symbiotes quickly to eliminate the barrier. You’ll also have to dodge the artillery strike from the Devourer when you’re taking down the Symbiotes.
The boss also has a toxic orb attack that appears on the ground and breaks apart into smaller projectiles that scatter around the arena. You can dodge it by double jumping over it or going to higher ground using your grappling hook.
Getting too close to the boss will trigger a slam attack, leaving behind a damaged pool of toxins. As long as you avoid these attacks and keep shooting at the weak points of the Devourer, he should go down easily.
