One of the more frustrating parts of maintaining your settlement in Manor Lords is acquiring enough food for your citizens. The more your settlement grows, the more people need food per month, and that can eventually become a problem if you don’t have various food production sources. At the start of Manor Lords, you won’t have access to too many food sources, but as the game progresses, things really open up in this area.
To see all of the available food sources in Manor Lords and how to start acquiring more of each one, check out the guide below.
All Food Types in Manor Lords
There are currently seven different types of food you can produce in Manor Lords. They are as follows:
- Meat
- Vegetables
- Berries
- Bread
- Eggs
- Apples
- Honey
The easiest food types to get early on are Berries and Meat. Berries can be procured by positioning a Forager’s Hut near a Berry Farm (marked by a berry icon on the map). Once the families assigned to the Forager’s Hut start harvesting the nearby Berries, they are free to eat for any one of your citizens. This is extremely easy to do and a passive way to feed your citizens.
The other option is Meat, which is procured by families assigned to a Hunter’s Camp. The Hunter’s Camp goes out to hunt for wild animals and they can bring back both Meat and Hides. Just like with Berries, the Meat the hunters bring back can be eaten by your citizens without you having to do anything. However, it’s wise to have a Granary nearby so your families can bring their extra food to store there.
Getting Different Types of Food in Manor Lords
As for the rest of the food sources, you can get most of them fairly easily after you do a bit of constructing in your settlement.
For example, Eggs and Vegetables are both produced by Burgage Plots after you install a Backyard Extension onto a house. This is done by clicking on a Burgage Plot, selecting the hammer icon, and picking what extension you want. For Eggs, you need a Chicken Coop while vegetables require a Vegetable Garden. It’s important to note your Burgage Plots need to be large enough to support a backyard extension, otherwise you won’t have the option to install one when the time comes.
Moving on, Bread is the most difficult food source to produce, as it requires several moving parts. You need to make a Field with Wheat as the crop, assign families to a Farmhouse nearby, have the workers transfer the Wheat to a Windmill, where it’s turned into Flour, and then the Flour needs to be transported to a Communal Oven where it’s made into Bread. This is a lengthy process that isn’t too reliable, as you won’t always be able to harvest a ton of Wheat year-round.
Finally, we have Apples and Honey, which require you to put Development Points into your settlement levels to acquire new structures. Once you’ve unlocked with the Apples or Honey structure, you can build it and passively produce the food products after assigning families to them. You can put Development Points into either food source by clicking on your territory’s name at the top of your screen.
And that covers all of the food sources in Manor Lords. Getting good isn’t the easiest thing to do, but as long as you have enough sources, your citizens shouldn’t go hungry.
