The implementation of farming in Manor Lords is done in a very realistic fashion that requires proper timing for each stage of plowing, sowing, and harvesting. Also, your fields will even have a fertility rate that can go up or down based on multiple factors. If you grow the same crop on a single field, you are gonna lose fertility fast, so let’s check out how you can increase crop fertility in Manor Lords.

How to Increase a Field’s Crop Fertility in Manor Lords
The fertility of a certain crop on a given field in Manor Lords can be increased in multiple different ways. Here are all your options:
Choose the Most Fertile spot
The first and most important step in ensuring maximum fertility in Manor Lords is to make sure you pick the best spot to lay down your fields. When in the construction menu, you will get overlay options for each crop on the right side of the screen.
Ideally, you are looking for a spot that is bright green and has three ‘+’ (plus) signs for at least two different types of crops. The best outcome is having that be possible for three or more types of crops.
If you cannot find a suitable spot like that, your current region does not have good fertile land for farming. In that case, you will have to wait until you can expand to the neighboring regions where the land fertility would be higher.
Keep the field Fallow
One of the easiest methods to increase crop fertility in Manor Lords is by letting the field be fallow for a whole year or more. However, as easy as it is, it is also the most inefficient method since it means you won’t have any yield for that year.
This method should be done by having another field that can take over while the first field is staying fallow to increase its fertility. Using this method is more effective when the land only supports fertility for a single type of crop, which puts crop rotation out of question.

Rotate your Crops
Remember how I mentioned finding fertile land for two or more crops? This is exactly why. Crop rotation is by far the most efficient method of maintaining fertility, but it also requires a very fertile piece of land to begin with.
Once you start farming on a field placed in an area fertile for multiple crops, you can easily rotate your crops each year and not have to worry about fertility. Better yet, you can do this with multiple fields and give them unique crop rotations each year, which will ensure a priority crop like Wheat is still being harvested every single year but on different fields.
Use the Fence Up Upgrade
Lastly, if you want to go all out in the farming business, consider spending your settlement development points towards the agricultural section and unlock the ‘Fence Up’ upgrade. This will allow you to use your fallow fields as pasture, which will increase the fertility of the field at a much higher rate than simply keeping it fallow.
Once you have invested in that settlement development node, you can apply the upgrade to any of your fields at the cost of 5 Planks. After this, they will be used as pasture whenever you set the field to Fallow.
