In Dragon’s Dogma 2, you can practice numerous vocations that impart useful combat abilities. Those vocations have corresponding “maisters” who teach you the most powerful of the available abilities, but only if you can find them and win their confidence. The archer maister shares the powerful Heavenly Shot ability, once you prove you are worthy.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 – How to Learn Heavenly Shot from the Archer Maister
The Archer Maister is an elf who possesses great skill with a bow. His name is Taliesin and he lives in Sacred Arbor. However, he’s not just going to teach you Heavenly Shot because you asked nicely. To learn Heavenly Shot from the Archer Maister, you must complete the Trial of Archery side quest.
The Trial of Archery side quest only becomes available after you complete the Gift of the Bow side quest. You can initiate that first quest once you reach Vernworth. To do so, talk to a visiting elf named Glyndwr. Once you finish that quest, you’ll need to wait a bit and then find Glyndwr back in Vernworth, at the same location. This time, he presents the quest you must complete to get in good with Taliesin.

Start by traveling to the location you find highlighted on your map if you designate the quest as your current project. When you arrive, Glyndwr escorts you to Sacred Arbor so you can witness him taking his test. However, that’s not what happens. Upon arriving, you learn an ogre has kidnapped his sister. The elves who would have administered the test have left to rescue her. Glyndwr is expressly prohibited from following. Naturally, this is your cue to follow, and to rescue Glyndwr’s sibling.
Travel to the Ancestral Chamber, which is indicated on the map. Once you arrive, confer with Glyndwr. He lays out a plan: he’ll shoot the ogre with an arrow, and then you can grab his sister and carry her to safety. There’s not really anything wrong with that plan. Go ahead and execute it, exactly as described.
Fortunately, the elves keep the ogre busy. You just have to grab Doireann and carry her to safety. The escape should be easy to manage because you likely cleared out any enemies on the way to the ogre encounter. You have to carry Doireann a fair distance, until you finally meet with the rescue party. Then, speak with Taliesin as directed. This conversation completes the quest, and you receive some rewards: 2800 XP, the Repeller Bow, and a Portcrystal.
To finally learn the skill from Taliesin, you still have to take another step. Head to Sacred Arbor and spend the night at the inn. I suggest placing the Portcrystal somewhere nearby, so you can conveniently return later if you wish. When you talk to Taliesin again after a day or two has passed, he will finally give you a scroll, Hunter’s Secret. It lets you learn the Heavenly Shot ability.
