Fortnite is fun to play, but sometimes you want to share the victory or defeat with a friend. That’s where split-screen comes in, and below we’ll show you how to play split-screen.
How To Play Split-Screen Local Co-Op In Fortnite
Here’s how to activivate split-screen in Fortnite.
- You’ll need two controllers both turned on and connected to your console (PS4 or PS5 or Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S). Make sure each controller has a separate Fortnite account logged in.
- Head to the main menu.
- Have the person with the second controller press the join button.
- From there, you can pick a mode, from Duos, Trios, or Squads.
That’s it! You’re now ready to fight for Victory Royale alongside your partner. Coordinate your attacks, share loot, and communicate effectively to become the ultimate duo.

Can I Play Split-Screen In Any Mode?
Sadly, you cannot play split-screen co-op on any mode. Split-screen is currently restricted to Battle Royale Duos and Squads. Solo mode wouldn’t be fair with two players working together, and other modes like Creative and Limited Time Modes aren’t supported either.
There is no way to play Lego Fortnite or the racing mode, or other creative modes.
Can I Play Split-Screen On Any Console?
The bad news for Switch and PC players is that split-screen is only available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. There is no word on when Nintendo Switch will get a split-screen feature, but we know that Nintendo Switch is confirmed not to have it.
Remember, both players need the same language setting enabled for split-screen to work. If one player disconnects, the split-screen session ends so make sure your internet connection is stable.
