If you are a die-hard Final Fantasy fan who wants to play the game as soon as it launches, these are the steps you need to take in order to preload Final Fantasy 16 on PS5:
- Log in to your account on your PS5.
- Head to the PlayStation Store tab.
- Go to the Final Fantasy 16 listing on the store; you can use the search bar for this.
- Buy one of the editions of Final Fantasy 16.
- Once purchased, you will now have the option to download the game.
- Download the game and now the Final Fantasy preload will be ready to play on your PS5 once it releases.
If you have already pre-ordered the game, then instead of going to the store, head over to your game library and select Final Fantasy 16. Here, go to the edition you purchased, and you will see the option to download.
Once you preload Final Fantasy 16 on PS5, you will see a timer that is based on when the game will release for your region. Also, it is possible that there will be an update to the game before it is released. Depending on when you start your pre-load, this update will be included in your download if it releases within that time window.
If you downloaded the Final Fantasy 16 preload on PS5 before any last-minute updates, then you will need to download these update files to have the game playable on launch. In case any future update doesn’t get pushed to your PS5 automatically, make sure you use the ‘check for updates’ option by pressing the start button on the Final Fantasy 16 tile on your PS5 home screen. This will ensure you are ready to play as soon as the game launches, instead of having to wait for the update to finish despite preloading.
