The First Descendant is a third-person looter shooter made by Nexon. You become a Descendant – the protector of your homeland who has inherited powerful abilities to fight against alien threats. But is The First Descendant PvP, or do you only fight against enemies alongside other players in co-op PvE? Here is what you need to know.
Will The First Descendant have PvP?
No, The First Descendant is only PvE, not PvP, as confirmed by its Game Director, Minseok Joo, in a Dev Talk video. He expressed how they are focused on making the PvE perfect and balanced, and adding PvP can mess that up, so they are avoiding it for now.
At launch, The First Descendant will only feature PvE but in typical live service game fashion, we may see major updates after the game releases where PvP is added as a separate mode. Looter shooter games don’t usually take the PvP route, so it’s understandable.

Looter shooters are grindy in nature, so you have to keep looting better and better items. So if there was PvP in it, the player who has spent the most time leveling up their stats and equipment and having found the rarest items will come out on top simply because their character is better.
However, compared to other similar looter shooter tiles, The First Descendant does look like it can easily incorporate a fun PvP experience with its fast-paced third-person shooter style gameplay, maybe even have a hero shooter type setting. So it’s no surprise that players are wondering if it has PvP but unfortunately, we won’t be seeing that, at least not at launch.
