As the Elderwood opens up for exploration, Palia’s main storyline finally unfolds in full force. The mysterious intruder at the temples is no longer just a theory but a real and looming threat. Subira reaches out once again, needing your help to get to the bottom of it all. Here’s how to complete Answering the Call, the first quest in the game’s main narrative arc.
Answering the Call Quest Guide

After the dramatic sky spectacle of glowing laser lights up your home plot, you’ll receive a visit from Einar, kicking off the quest. He comes bearing news: the Cosmos Protocol has been deactivated, something that’s been confirmed by none other than the Gardener. Your next move? Head to the Night Sky Temple and meet with Subira. While you can also stop by the Temple of the Roots to chat with the Galdur for extra background, don’t bother with the Gardener—he has nothing new to offer.
Exploring the Night Sky Temple

At the temple, you’ll discover that a once-sealed door is now wide open. This is where most of the quest unfolds. Speak with Subira inside, and you’ll learn the path ahead is obstructed. Thankfully, your trusty pickaxe can solve that problem. Several walls throughout the area are breakable, allowing you to carve your way forward.

Start by heading down the hallway to your right. Look for a bookcase, then smash through the wall on the left to reveal a hidden room containing Record #1. It is the first of seven crucial logs scattered throughout the temple. These records will come into play later when you need to access a secure console. You’ll automatically collect them as you go, but double-check your Quest inventory if one seems to be missing.
Finding the Hidden Records

After grabbing Record #1, turn around and enter the opposite hallway. Break the wall here to uncover another secret corridor. In a small alcove to the left lies Record #2. Continue around the corner and break through another wall on your left to find a room with pipes and Record #3 tucked into the back-left corner. Use the lattice structure nearby to climb up to the next area.

On the upper walkway, jump across the broken section of the floor to reach Record #4, located just beside another bookcase. Keep pushing forward by leaping into a narrow hallway and crossing a small bridge. Eventually, you’ll hit what appears to be a dead end. Look closely at the cobblestone-like section of the floor here. Smash it open and drop down onto a staircase.
Lower Chambers & Remaining Records

To your left, the first room off the staircase holds Record #5. Directly across the hall, you’ll find a treasure chest with Gold Ore x3, Stone Block x5, and an Ancient Treasure Chest. Most of the side rooms in this hallway are accessible, though not all contain anything important.

From that last room on the left, skip one doorway and then enter the next room on the right to find Record #6 just inside, across from two decorative vases. The very last room on the right holds Record #7, the final log you need.
Now it’s time to move on. Backtrack slightly and break into the second door on the right. Inside, destroy the floor to reveal a hidden ladder. You will spot a chest with several rewards inside at the bottom.
Password To Unlock The Console In Answering the Call Quest In Palia

Follow the hallway from here until you find a climbable wall. At the top, bust through another weak wall to enter a new room where Subira is waiting. After a brief conversation, you’ll be prompted to interact with the nearby console. To unlock it, you’ll need a password. Each of the seven Records you collected has a page containing a part of the code. The full password is: Qs7?v%J

Once you’re in, take your time reading through the different entries. To progress the quest, be sure to check both the Cosmos Protocol and Mirror Protocol sections and take note of their most recent access times. Return to Subira with your findings. After a short exchange, she’ll accompany you back to the Night Sky Temple, and the quest wraps up.
