Schedule I puts you firmly across the line from law enforcement, often requiring you to bend Hyland’s rules to your advantage in your quest to become the one and only drug dealer it needs. To that end, pickpocketing its residents can often be a great way to avoid spending your hard-earned cash toward growing your business, instead allowing you to let the city do your work for you!
The pickpocketing mini-game in Schedule I can be daunting when you first try it out, needing dexterity and timing to get it right. However, practice makes perfect, and our guide is here to tell you exactly how to get it right.
How To Pickpocket In Schedule I

Pickpocketing in Schedule I requires a few simple steps that seem easy enough on paper but might need a few tries before you get it right.
- Approach the NPC you want to pickpocket and crouch down behind them.
- Press “E” when the pickpocket prompt shows up to begin the process.
- You will then be taken to the victim’s inventory, with a red arrow moving along a line with green dots.
- Each of those dots represents an item in the victim’s inventory that you can pick up by pressing Space when the arrow is on the corresponding dot.
- Remember that the arrow moves faster the longer you take to steal something. However, you could always exit and begin the process again to bring it back to a more manageable speed.
- When you manage to pick up the item you want, quickly press Shift and place it in your inventory.
As you can see, getting your hands on the items you want from a victim requires you to be quick on your feet and nimble enough to land the arrow on the dot you want before quickly slotting it into your inventory. Take your time and get used to the timing to ensure that you never find yourself short on cash in Hyland Point.
Why Should You Pickpocket in Schedule I?

Pickpocketing not only gets you more money from the residents of Hyland Point; it also lets you obtain rare ingredients that you may not find at shops. These are very useful in creating new mixes for your customers. What’s more, those very customers could become a source of free income, as there is nothing stopping you from pickpocketing your products back from them once a deal goes down, netting you tons of free money as you turn around and repeat the same with your next customer. It isn’t illegal until you get caught.
However, if you do get caught, some NPCs may choose to fight back with their fists or weapons, while others may even call the cops! Pay attention to which NPCs are less likely to fight back when you’re prowling the streets looking for your next mark, and make sure to have a product with anti-gravity or energizing effects on you in case you need to make a quick getaway.
