To complete the Fairywind Bundle for Vault of Gale in Palia, you need to turn in one Rainbow-Tipped Butterfly. But it’s quite tricky to get a hold of even one of these butterflies as any sudden movement can scare it away.
After several tries, I was able to find the perfect timing and location to successfully catch the Rainbow-Tipped Butterfly. Here’s how you can do it too.
Rainbow-Tipped Butterfly Location In Palia
The Rainbow-Tipped butterfly can be found near the cliffs and fields of the Bahari Bay area between 3:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Searching around the Pulsewater Plains, Hideaway Bluffs, and above the Pavel Mines helped me finally catch this butterfly.
This bug is very easily startled by player movement and regular smoke bombs, so I suggest using Sneaky Smoke Bombs and Sticky Smoke Bombs instead.

Make sure to clear out all bug spawn locations so that there is a higher chance of the rainbow-tipped butterfly spawning in that area. Also, keep in mind that the butterfly usually spawns around the 3:00 AM mark, so always be near the spawn area before that time.
If you still cannot find this butterfly, try using a Buzzy Jar to track the Rainbow-Tipped Butterfly’s possible spawn locations on the map.
Buzzy Jar Recipe In Palia
A buzzy jar allows you to track rare bugs and insects (like the Rainbow-Tipped butterfly) and pings their location on your map for 15 minutes. This craftable item is unlocked when you reach Level 8 in Bug Catching and unlock the recipe for 2500 Gold.
The ingredients to make the buzzy jar are:
- 3x Uncommon Bugs
- 2x Glass Bulb
- 2x Silk Thread
Once you use the jar and catch the rainbow-tipped butterfly, you can gift it to the Palia NPCs including Auni, Elouisa, Jel, and Tamala.
