We finally received the announcement trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage during the latest PlayStation Showcase. The game is definitely coming to PS5, with Ubisoft announcing later on that the game will also be available for PC and Xbox. However, it seems that Assassin’s Creed Mirage won’t be making an appearance on Steam.
This does not mean that Assassin’s Creed Mirage won’t be coming to PC at all. Instead, PC gamers who only use Steam will not be able to buy the game. PC players will be able to access Assassin’s Creed Mirage only through Ubisoft’s website or the Epic Games Store.
While Ubisoft hasn’t revealed any additional information, chances are that AC Mirage will eventually arrive on Steam. As 2022 wasn’t a particularly good year for Ubisoft, this decision may indicate some kind of exclusivity deal with Epic Games Store. Naturally, this won’t be feasible for Ubisoft in the long run, as Steam is easily the most popular platform amongst the PC players. At the moment, pre-orders for the game are open through PS store, Xbox store, Amazon Luna, Ubisoft Store, and Epic Games Store.
Epic Games Store has previously had exclusivity deals with several reputed brands in order to gain an upper hand over their most fierce competitor – Steam. However, until Ubisoft or Epic Games comes forward with an official announcement, there is no way to know for sure as to how long Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be kept off Steam. If there is some kind of exclusivity deal struck between these two, PC gamers won’t be able to access Assassin’s Creed Mirage through Steam Store for at least six months.
