Krafton is set to double down on the popular PUBG game mechanics to expand its footprint in the extraction shooter genre. Based on the latest earnings report by the publisher, the upcoming Black Budget will inherit the gunplay of PUBG.

Taking risks is a crucial element of any extraction shooter. The greater the risk, the greater the reward. Krafton seems to be expanding the project into a full-fledged PvPvE extraction shooter with various complicated and engaging elements that were absent in PUBG.
Extraction shooters are pretty commonplace nowadays and Krafton wants to carve out a bigger chunk of the market. Based on the report, Black Budget is targeted to offer players a deep and challenging gameplay experience. This is claimed to be achieved by inheriting and further enhancing the popular gunplay mechanics in its previous title, PUBG.
The latest earnings report also features a new look at the Black Budget. This new image shows a couple of characters surveying a parking garage covered with black and red slug-ish vines. Previously, the first poster for Project Black Budget carried the PUBG logo and depicted a control room of a factory or research facility with black alien growth in the dead center.
This time around, Krafton has completely moved on and seems to be developing Black Budget as an extraction shooter independent of PUBG. While the report claims that this game will inherit the gunplay mechanics from the popular battle royale, Black Budget will of course come with its own elements. As per the report, these include:
- A world demanding strategic choices during every session
- Player progression varied by Risk-reward decision
