Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is headed to Mac computers later this year, according to Hideo Kojima. The founder of Kojima Productions made a surprise appearance at Apple’s 2023 WWDC keynote presentation today with the announcement.
While Kojima didn’t mention the upcoming Death Stranding 2 heading to the platform, he stated today’s announcement to be “just the beginning”. The famed game developer further elaborated,
“It has been a dream of mine to see my team’s best work come to life on the Mac. Now we are entering a new era for gaming on the Mac. I hope game creators everywhere will take advantage of this power to develop exciting and revolutionary new experiences.”

Kojima’s announcement came following Apple’s introduction of two new features to macOS — Game Mode and Game Porting Toolkit for Metal. The former allows games the highest priority on CPU and GPU during play, and the latter will make it easier for developers to get games running on Mac.
Over the last few years, Apple has shown interest in capturing the enormous gaming market. Capcom released Resident Evil Village on Mac in October last year, with more games like No Man’s Sky and Stray heading that way.
Kojima Production’s next game in the pipeline, Death Stranding 2, has been so far confirmed to be coming to PlayStation 5.
