EA has announced that the subscription charges for EA Play will increase soon. The news is being circulated to all subscribers via an official email, and the EA Play website now reflects the new prices.
Starting May 10, the standard EA Play subscription will cost players $5.99 per month, which is $1 more than the current price ($4.99). The annual package that currently costs $29.99 will be available at $39.99 as per the new price structure.
The price change extends to EA Play Pro as well. The premium tier of the service that offers EA’s latest games on day one along with extra perks currently costs $14.99 per month. After the price change, subscribers will have to shell out $16.99 for the same. The annual membership will cost at $119.99, a significant rise from the current $99.99 price tag.
A standard version of EA Play comes bundled with the Xbox Game Pass, but we don’t yet know if the new pricing will trigger any changes on the Game Pass side.
GamesIndustry.biz first reported the news and suggested that the new prices “are being made to reflect changes in currency value and to bring fees in line with market value.” Prices for Game Pass and PlayStation Plus subscriptions went up last year, so could indeed be adapting to the current market conditions.
