Dragami Games, run by CEO Yoshimi Yasuda, said it is going to make a new version of the 2012 action game Lollipop Chainsaw called Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP. Fans asked for it, and the music licenses they had before are no longer valid.
Following the game’s first release in 2012, the music rights stopped the original Lollipop Chainsaw from being sold further. Fans of the game really wanted to see it come back, and this, along with offers from companies in other countries to make a new version, made Dragami Games think about bringing the game back on their own. This is all according to an interview with Gematsu.
RePOP is going to aim at today’s audiences while keeping the original title’s appeal. To do this, the game makers have changed how the game works. Players will notice that the controls and camera handling are better, making the game easier to use. Also, they’ve made the tough parts of the game more fair to make it a smoother experience.

Addressing another piece of feedback, RePOP will have combo moves available right from the start. In the original game, players had to advance before getting these abilities. The developers think this change will make the game more interesting right away.
Lollipop Chainsaw’s fighting focused on using a chainsaw and a chainsaw blaster. RePOP has improved both. They added a new “Chain Hit Hunting” system that makes the chainsaw attack faster with every hit to make using the weapon more interesting. The chainsaw blaster, mainly for long-range attacks in the first game, has been changed to be a better choice by adding features like auto-lock and continuous fire.
RePOP has a new feature where players can use different chainsaws, each with special abilities that match the funny world of the game. Instead of using music from the first game, RePOP has its own soundtrack because it’s expensive to use licensed music. Yasuda, the creator, agrees that the old music was good but believes that the new music, made by current artists, fits the game’s vibe just as well.
The talk with Yasuda explains how much he has been a part of the franchise. He was in charge of making the first Lollipop Chainsaw game and started the RePOP project. Although the story stays the same, Yasuda suggests that there might be more to come for the franchise. He says he has started thinking about what can happen next in the Lollipop Chainsaw series. Dragami Games wants to hear from players about the game RePOP and whether they want it on more than just PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC.
