As fans of the popular Legend of Zelda franchise gear up for the release of the latest installment, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, rumors and leaks about the game are abundant on the web. The latest development suggests that Tears of the Kingdom might come with Gacha mechanics.
Nintendo recently published gameplay footage and images of the upcoming Zelda game. One of these uploads showed off a large circular device in one of the ‘sky islands’ of the game. This device looks like a giant, ancient vending machine, which has led fans to believe that the title might include Gacha devices.

Probable inclusion of gacha mechanics in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom excites gamers
While Nintendo has been allowing several gamers and gaming content creators to explore the landscape of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in advance, they have been pretty secretive about new additions. The new gacha machine featured in the published screengrabs is considered to be part of the new Zonai collection in the title.
Zonai are magi-mechanical devices that players can use to transform, build, and weaponize the game’s environment. Some of the most popular Zonai devices teased by Nintendo in their marketing campaigns included rockets, fans, batteries, stick controllers, and portable cooking pots, among others.
How will gacha machines work in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
While there is no official word from Nintendo regarding this, some gamers have come up with theories regarding the workings of these gacha machines (or at least one of them, to begin with) in the game. Fans suspect that these machines will be powered by Zonai Charge, a Zonai currency unit that can be used to charge fans, rockets, and batteries for Link to enable fast and creative transportation.
As the gamers have seen these charges a lot in the gameplay trailers as well as leaks, it seems like Zonai charge is going to be a crucial form of in-game currency in the new title. Players expect that the machine will spit out random Zonai devices and tools when submitted with a certain amount of charges.
