Two days after the GTA 5 source code was leaked online, it has come to light that the code was allegedly sold to a modding group for $2000.
More interestingly, it was a group buy and the leak two days ago was done by one of the modders who was initially part of it. All of these sources have been put together by SpiritedSuccess5675 on Reddit.
Reportedly, Kieron Austin, known by various aliases such as Austinator Modz, XBL Dragonfly, TMP, TickleMePickles, and SecretSauce, was a participant in a group buy. The acronym “TMP” refers to his original account, TickleMePickles, which had been banned, as evident in one of the provided screenshots.
It is alleged that Kieron did not contribute any funds to the group purchase, allowing him to obtain the source code for free. He purportedly attempted to sell the code for $6,000, yielding a $4,000 USD profit. He endeavored to scam another individual, although the attempt was unsuccessful.
Despite initially trying to sell the source code for $199–500 USD on Discord, significantly less than the initial $2,000 group buy cost, Kieron faced difficulties in making a profit. Undeterred, he persisted in his attempts to sell it, eventually resorting to leaking the code out of spite. SpiritedSuccess5675 claims, “If he wasn’t able to make a profit, he was going to make sure no one else could.”
