Manor Lords, the medieval city-building and strategy game from Slavic Magic, has just released a huge new update in its patch on Steam. The latest patch, version 0.7.960, addresses some issues players noticed and introduces new mechanics to improve the game.
One important update is the introduction of the King’s Tax, an annual fee imposed on players to prevent extreme wealth accumulation. This tax considers the population and is designed to promote more balanced economic growth and city construction. A lot of players will hate this one, but it’s important for balance.
Trading has changed a lot in this update. Now, players can use Trading Posts to trade only within their own regions, giving them more control over their resources. They can even ignore free merchants and trade points, making regional economies run even smoother.
The latest update focuses on fixing common issues, like the unexpected appearance of non-functional characters, weaker archer performance, and the game freezing after winning. The update also includes adjustments to improve balance, such as reducing players’ excessive ale consumption. The ale consumption thing was such a big issue in the game that many Reddit posts had tons of players agreeing against it.
A new “experimental” tag has been added to certain balance changes to show they are still being tested and refined. These changes involve crop growth and harvest mechanics adjustments, a reworked marketplace supply system, and a nerf to the previously overpowered trade development branch.
A notable new feature is the addition of visual representations of carried corpses, which adds more detail to the game world. New variations of armor are available for retinue units, enhancing unit aesthetics. Additionally, a new patron saint, St. Maurice, has been introduced, potentially providing unique benefits to units.
The game is pushing to be one of the best around, and hopefully, that does happen. We love to see games take off, like Helldivers 2 and Palworld. If you’re interested in more Manor Lords, check out our page for it.
