As is the trend with AAA game releases of late, the all-new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has received a massive update on the first day of its launch.
Today, which marks the release of the game, Insomniac has released the patch – version 1.001.002, and it’s hefty. It brings many new features along with general fixes, improved stability, and polished gameplay. The update weighs in at around 38 GBs, and although it is not necessary for disc users to download the patch, Insomniac highly recommends doing so.

New Features
- Vibration Setting: Switch between Experiential, Functional, or None.
- Auto Heal: When enabled, if a full Focus Bar is available, use it to automatically heal when under the specified amount of health.
- Controller Speaker Mode: Switch between Experiential, Functional, or Off.
- High Contrast Perfect Dodge: Apply a high contrast color to the Perfect Dodge effect to improve visual clarity.
General Fixes & Polish
- Improved the visual fidelity of the opening gameplay sequence
- Addressed an issue where the player’s progression could become blocked during the Suit Tutorial
- General polish updates
- Improved performance and stability
- Various additional fixes and improvements
One of the major fixes addresses the bug that prevented players from progressing during the Suit Tutorial in the beginning. Along with this, the Auto Heal feature is an optional feature that will enable players to automatically heal when they take a certain amount of damage from the enemies.

As mentioned earlier, the day 1 update to Spider-Man 2 is around 38 GB in size.
