Star Wars Outlaws, a new open-world game by Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment, is doing things differently regarding how characters get stronger. Instead of using experience points (XP) and levels like most role-playing games, in Star Wars Outlaws, players will improve their character by exploring and managing how other characters see them.
According to a preview from GamesRadar, Core to this system are hard-to-find experts spread across the game world. These specialists have the secrets to getting new skills and abilities. Players have to find these experts, usually by gathering rumors in cantinas, and do tasks for them to learn from them. Each expert gives a special ability, and there are extra challenges to make these abilities better or learn new techniques.
This way of thinking goes beyond single abilities. The whole world becomes a place for learning. As players try to complete tasks linked to their skills, the world changes from a background to a puzzle full of chances. A boring ramp or cliff could become the perfect spot for a risky jump, a test set by a speeder pro. This emphasis on exploring encourages players to interact with the world actively.

It’s not a conventional approach and doesn’t sound like it will go over well with RPG fans, but it’s a risk Ubisoft is willing to take.
Reputation is really important in Star Wars Outlaws. The choices you make in the game will affect how others see you in the game’s underworld. If you have a good reputation, you’ll get to do more things and get better stuff. But if your reputation is bad, you might not have as many choices.
This system lets you make decisions about how your character grows. Your choices when you do things like stealing, trading or exploring affect your reputation. You can also work with or against different groups in the game. If you need to fix a bad reputation, you can take on jobs from underworld brokers to make things better again.
