The Outlast Trials is creating waves in the horror gaming scene. Both Outlast and Outlast 2 have become staple games for horror game fans, which makes the upcoming release all the more exciting. With the first two games being released on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, the upcoming game is yet to receive a console release date.
So far, Red Barrel Games has announced the release of The Outlast Trials on PC, dated May 18, 2023. However, console gamers still have no news as to when the title is coming to their platform.

Although there is no tentative date for the release of The Outlast Trials on Xbox Series X/S and PS5, Red Barrel Studios has made an official comment on Twitter. The studio has stated that it is working on making the game playable on as many consoles as possible. The comment made on April 19, 2023 reads,
“We are working to have The Outlast Trials be playable on as many consoles as possible with cross-platform play but no cross-progression. This will take time and we aim to have this for full launch if everything pans out. Early Access will only be on Steam and Epic Games Store.”

With the official comments from the studio, it can be said that there will be a PS5 and Xbox release for the game. There are mentions of making the game cross-platform, which state that it will take some time to roll out the console versions. When the question of cross-platform play comes into the picture, many players expect the progression to carry on from one console to another, but the developers say that this won’t be the case.
As for PS4 and Xbox One, there is no confirmation that the game will be released on these last-gen consoles.
The Outlast Trials release date
The PC version for The Outlast Trials is set to be released on May 18, 2023, with the closed beta being out since last Halloween. Reports from Red Barrel Games state that play-testers have spent 35 years of playtime during this program, with 225k players dying in the game over the weekend of the release of the beta.
The change in gameplay mechanics and introduction of the multiplayer system in The Outlast Trials will definitely impact the series largely, giving players the Outlast experience they have never seen before. PC players can buy the game from the Steam store and the Epic Games store upon the release of the game. With no prices mentioned in either of the stores, players can wishlist the game on Steam stores to get notified as soon as the game is launched.
