Starfield allows players to join a number of factions on various planets of the Milky Way galaxy. However, all of these factions offer unique beliefs and challenges to the players.
If you’re wondering whether you can join all the Starfield factions in a single playthrough, the short answer is yes, you can.
Starfield factions and how to join them
There are five factions in Starfield for players to join. Each of the factions features a lengthy quest line filled with choices and rewards. The five major factions are:
- Constellation
- United Colonies
- Freestar Collective
- Ryujin Industries
- Crimson Fleet
Other than these factions, there are also some minor factions in the game, including:
- Enlightened
- Sanctum Universum
- House Va’ruun
- Spacers
- Argos Extractors
- Ecliptic Mercenaries
- Trade Authority
Early on in the main quest, you’ll join the Constellation faction by default. While in the Constellation faction, you can join the other four factions in the game by signing up for them by partaking in their introductory quests. Although joining multiple factions in Starfield doesn’t hinder the faction-specific jobs, you might need to give loyalty tests because of the factions’ conflicting interests.
Furthermore, it’ll also allow players to explore multiple storylines from different factions at the same time. Even though you can join all the factions at once, balancing your loyalties for every faction without damaging your reputation is recommended. This way, you can carry out more missions for your factions and get the most reward out of them.
To join most of the major factions in Starfield, you need to complete a specific questline for each of them. You can find these missions by heading to the Faction tab from your mission log. The ways to join different factions include:
- Constellation- After completing one of the initial story missions, you’ll join this faction by default.
- United Colonies– You can join this faction by joining the UC Vanguard in Jemison and becoming a UC Vanguard member.
- Freestar Collective- To join this faction, you must go to Akila city and complete a mission from the mission board terminal in the Rock.
- Ryujin Industries- As this faction is a massive tech corporation, you can join this faction just by heading to any Ryujin Industries kiosk and applying for a job.
- Crimson Fleet- Once you’ve unlocked the introductory UC Vanguard mission, you can progress throughout the mission and go undercover to become a space pirate member of this faction.
