You can learn and master numerous vocations on your way through Dragon’s Dogma 2. Vocations allow you to equip powerful new abilities and augment your natural strength. It’s fun to play around with them, but first you have to unlock them. Fortunately, the Trickster vocation is fairly easy to unlock, once you know where to find it.
How to Unlock the Trickster Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2
When you first begin playing the game, you’ll spend a lot of your time in and around Vernworth. Eventually, you can venture through a guarded gate on the south end of Checkpoint Rest Town to enter a neighboring kingdom. To unlock the Trickster vocation, you must visit Reverent Shrine and meet with Luz.
You can visit Battahl by following any one of a few approaches. The easiest way is to advance the story until you access and complete the Nation of the Lambent Flame story quest. That quest walks you through acquiring the Beastren Mask, which you need if your character is a human. You also gain paperwork you can present when passing through the border checkpoint. Without that preparation, you’ll likely have to head around the gate, which can be a dangerous detour. Return visits to the region may also require you to spend additional resources.

As you head south from Checkpoint Rest Town, keep to the main road. There may be some powerful enemies along the way. However, you will mostly meet bandits. Those foes shouldn’t prove too difficult to beat. You can run from any gryphons that might attack. As you continue south, you’ll cross a creek. Ignore the first detour from the main road that leads east along the creek. However, follow the second detour through some forestation to arrive at an ancient stone structure. This structure is Reverent Shrine.
When you enter the shrine, you will encounter Luz. She is the spectral oracle who inhabits the area, just at the top of the stairs. Talk to her and agree to pay her fee. It is a paltry 50 G.
Once you pay the fee, you will immediately unlock the Trickster vocation. Now, you can head back to a guild and set it as your current vocation to start mastering it.
