5 Steps To Prepare for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate is the upcoming expansion for the popular first-person shooter title that is set for release in July 2025. You will get access to a new campaign, weapons, raid, Armor 3.0, and much more.

However, if you’re a veteran player, you don’t want to start from scratch, as that will slow down your preparations for the day 1 raid. Here’s a guide on everything that you should do to prepare yourself before the launch of Edge of Fate and have an edge compared to new players jumping into the franchise.

Complete the Seasonal Quests

The first thing that you should be doing is completing all the leftover season quests. This includes the seasonal story as well as the Exotic quests. Most of these quests will be gone, and you’ll miss out on armor and weapon pieces.

Additionally, there is a powerful Exotic mission called Choir of One, which is a Special Auto Rifle that comes with Onslaught and Destabilizing Rounds, which are very good at clearing ads and will come in handy in the campaign as well as the raid.

Stack up on Exotic Engrams

Once the new DLC drops, your power level won’t be enough to take part in Legendary Lost Sectors. Additionally, Master Rahool’s Tier 3 armor focusing will also be gone, which you normally use to focus on new Exotic armor.

However, if you have enough Exotic Engrams, you can simply use them to level up Master Rahool to the point where you can once again focus on the new Exotic armor. This saves you a lot of time and helps you prepare better for the new raid and other high-level content.

Stack up on Mobility and Intellect Armor

The Edge of Fate DLC brings Armor 3.0, where the main stats such as Resilience, Mobility, Recovery, and others will be changed. The changes are as follows:

Old StatsNew Stats
MobilityWeapons
ResilienceHealth
RecoveryClass
DisciplineGrenade
IntellectSuper
StrengthMelee

Any armor you currently own will have its stats converted. However, the two most important stats here are Weapons and Intellect, as the former increases firearm damage in both PvE and PvP, while the latter helps you gain more Super energy.

As such, any high Mobility + Intellect armor is worth collecting, and you should grind the seasonal activity as much as possible to get access to some of these armor pieces. This will remove some of the grind and help you get a head start in the campaign as well as the raid.

You must remember that once Edge of Fate launches, you won’t be able to get Weapons and Super together in one armor piece. However, if you farm some of the illegal armor pieces now, the stats will get converted, and you will be at an advantage.

Some of the exotic armor pieces you would want include the Cuirass of Falling Star for Titans, Speaker’s Sight helmet for Warlocks, and Celestial Nighthawk Helmet for Hunters.

Collect Upgrade Materials

Collecting upgrade materials is equally important as you don’t want to jump into the raid with non-masterworked gear. You’ll primarily need Enhancement Prisms, Enhancement Cores, and Ascendent Shards.

Among these, Ascendant Shards will be the hardest to obtain at the start of Edge of Fate, so make sure you run a few Grandmaster Nightfalls to collect as many as possible on all three characters. While running Grandmaster Nightfalls, you’ll also be able to get access to the other two upgrade materials as side drops.

Clean your vault and only keep the necessary weapons

Edge of Fate will introduce several new weapons for you to enjoy. However, some of the standard weapons like Izanagi’s Burden, Anarchy, and Outbreak Perfected will be stock standard. Make sure you have those ready.

Additionally, you’ll need some legendary weapons such as the Hezen Vengeance Rocket Launcher from the Vault of Glass, Lost Signal Stasis Grenade Launcher from Episode 1 Echoes, Scatter Signal Fusion Rifle, and Commemoration Machine Gun from Deep Stone Crypt Raid.

These weapons will carry you even in Edge of Fate, and make your day 1 raid preparation easy.
