How to Complete the Red Tape Runaround Quest in Starfield

The ‘Red Tape Runaround’ quest starts directly after the ‘Red Tape Blues’ where you will mine iron and then give a job interview at Deimos Staryards for an executive assistant miner position. After speaking to Trevor at the end of that quest, he will ask you to go and talk with Peter Brennan, or rather pretend to be Peter’s assistant so Trevor can gain access to his computer which is where Red Tape Runaround starts.

• Report to work for Peter Brennan: Head to Peter Brennan’s office, this should be right above Trevor’s office. Talk with him and pretend to be his assistant to get access to the computer. But you won’t get access at this point, instead, your next objective will send you to Governor Hurst as he explains that a shipment is being blocked by him.
• Speak with Governor Hurst: Governor Hurst will tell you he will complete the shipment if you do a totally small favor for him: destroy a stolen ship.

  

• Deal with Pirates/Destroy Hurst’s ship: After you find the ship, there are multiple ways this can go depending on things like your persuasion skills or your affinity with the Crimson Fleet. You can either start to open fire at the ship, or you can hail and convince the Pirates onboard the ship to let you dock and enter it. If you happen to board it you can get some juicy info on Governor Hurst that you can use to blackmail him and get a lot of creds out of him. You should also check for clues regardless, even if you are not affiliated with Crimson Fleet as you can find some incriminating evidence in one of the habs of the ship.

  

• Return to Hurst: When you return to Hurst, he will give you the package that Peter needs to complete the job. You can also blackmail him here using the confidential information and make him give you 12000 creds for it.
• Deliver the package to Peter: Now, you can go back to Peter and hand him the package you got from Hurst, which will gain you his trust and he will allow you to access his computer.
• Approve the equipment request: Once you have access to Peter’s computer, you can now complete the quest by approving the request for new equipment put forth by Trevor using Peter’s computer. Return to Trevor after doing so to successfully finish this quest.
